(Watertown) The Rock River Coalition is hosting workshops in the area for those interested in volunteering to monitor streams.
No experience or equipment is needed to attend one of the two workshops. Those interested in signing up will learn how to measure water quality and be ready to adopt a stream monitoring site. The next closest workshop is on May 4th in Watertown. The final workshop takes place on May 11th in Clinton.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and various county Land and Water Conservation Departments use the data to better understand watershed protection and restoration needs. The Rock River Coalition collects monthly data about the health of the streams across the Rock River Basin and has over 200 volunteers.
