Robert was born on July 6, 1943, the son of Robert A. and Evelyn C. (Madura) Hayes in Chicago, Illinois. He was married to Virginia Malinauskas and together they had three children. Bob later married his long-time fiancé Denise Wingers on May 14, 2019, at Fox Lake, Wisconsin.
Bob was originally from Chicago. He was the proud owner and operator of Hayes Resort in Fox Lake since 1976. He was very active in the community, belonging to the Dodge County Tavern League, Fox Lake Lions Club, Fox Lake Kiwanis and the Beaver Dam Elks Club. He was also a member of the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Cambria-Friesland Chamber of Commerce.
Mostly, Bob will be remembered for his fantastic gift of storytelling, with a sprinkling of BS woven into each story. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, and coin collecting.
Bob is survived by his wife, Denise; his three children: Diana (Mark) Schultz of Beaver Dam, Robert K. (Lori) Hayes of Adell, Wisconsin and Patricia Van Dusen of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren: Stephanie (David), Eric (Kadi), Sara (Mac), Michelle and Taylor; his great grandchildren: Carson, Landon, Lukas, Nolan, Colin, Aydra and twin grandsons expected in the Fall. He is further survived by longtime employees who have become family: Dawn Marquardt and Spencer Price and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother William Hayes.
