Regional Vehicle Sales Lagging Behind Last Year’s Numbers

(Dodge County) Vehicle sales in the region in the first month of the year were down when compared to 2021. According to the Waterloo-based industry-tracking firm Reg-Trak, there were 226 vehicle sales in Dodge County last month, down nearly 30-perecnt from the 319 sold in January of 2021. Car sales in the county decreased by 11 or 36-percent over last year. Truck sales also saw a drop, to 207 sold, a decline of 28-percent.

In Columbia County, vehicle sales were down 34-percent with 140 sold, 75 fewer than the same timeframe last year. Truck sales were also down 30-percent while car sales saw a steep decline of 70-percent.

In Jefferson County, 165 vehicles rolled off dealer lots last month, just under 23-percent less than the 214 sold the previous January. Car sales saw a drop of 38-percent while truck sales decreased 20-percent.

The nine-county, south-central Wisconsin region as a whole experienced a 23-percent decline with 2,564 vehicle sales. Truck sales in the region were down 22-percent while car sales dropped nearly 27-percent.
