(Theresa) Residents are invited to attend the UW-Madison Extension Dairy Program Handling and administration of vaccine and medicine in cattle workshop on Thursday and Friday of this week at the Theresa Town Hall.
The English session will take place on Thursday, June 27, from 9:00am-3:00pm, with the Spanish session taking place on Friday, June 28, from 9:00am-3:00pm.
UW-Extension Dairy Program Educator Alison Pfau joined WBEV Hometown Today and says the workshop will feature hands on demonstrations.
โItโs going to be for free, itโs going to be all day. In the morning weโre going to do the basic information, give you all the information by paper, and in the afternoon weโre going to do on hands practice, so weโre going to have a cow model, and they can try to simulate how they can vaccine and inject these products by the animal that we have.โ
To support beef and dairy farms and their employees, the UW-Extension Dairy program has developed this workshop to help farm personnel further understand the importance of the vaccine and medicine, the proper use and handling, and the consequences of the not proper administration and manipulation of animal health products. Hands-on demonstrations will also occur at the workshop.
The workshop training features Dr. Adrian Barragan, Associate research professor-extension veterinarian Penn State University extension, and Flavio Silvestre, Dairy Tech Services at Zoetis Inc.
