“We entered tonight short-handed, which made for an exciting time as we had several players with their first extended experience and others with different roles.  Johnson Creek is a great team  and MCDS is a very scrappy group. It was exciting to get out and compete.  I thought Kayla Staveness was a rock start tonight.  She stepped into a new role and crushed it both offensively and defensively.  Also, both Abby Kennedy and Katie England received their first time on varsity and did a great job with very few reps with the first group.  Abby’s serving was great and she led us in aces tonight.  Our back line of Autumn, Elise, and Charlotte did well patrolling the back for us.  And as usual Emily and Anna did a great job attacking and spreading the ball around.   It was a fun night!” – Rio head coach JC Madorin

Columbus 3 Lodi 1

-Cbus: Haley Thoeny 25 diggs, Sam Klann 18 kills

CWC 3 Fall River 1

“The Crusaders got back on track with a win over Fall River tonight.   We started slowly, but Ada Smies and Elise Ritzema got on track, combining for 39 kills on the night.   Our defense also got better after the first set, which is what allowed us to turn things around.   The win takes us to 17-8 overall.   We are excited to keep building for tournaments starting next week.   We have 1 more home match on Thursday this week before tournaments start.” – Crusaders coach Dan Ten Napel
