“Baraboo is such a fun environment to play in as the court is surrounded by stands in a pretty tight setting so the energy was great. The girls had a nice start tonight and we were able to get up on them early in set one. The second set though, Baraboo came back at us swinging and we found ourselves down mid set 9-14. We were able to get it tight, but it was really back and forth late, until Tessa Schwager got in there and served 6 straight to close out the set during which we forced them to use both time outs. It was great to see our girls persevere through the pressure late in that set. The third set was also tight with Baraboo making some adjustments, putting extra pressure on our pin attackers. This opened it up for Reese in the middle and Tess Spende on the Right side and both had some aggressive plays offensively and defensively for us late. That on top of Elle Stangler’s six aggressive serves in a row we were able to close it out. Fun to see so many different girls step up at different times throughout the match to gain that conference win. “ – Goslings Coach Erin Steuerwald

“The match started a little sloppy for us. We had some early mental mistakes and dug a big hole. To the credit of the girls, they fought their way out and evened out the first set at 14-14 and then pushed away from there. Some more mental mistakes took place in the 2nd set, but they were able to play a strong complete set in the 3rd. Still learning together every match. They know we need to keep fighting for a complete match.” – Dodgeland Coach Lauren Leitzke

Mayville 3 Campbellsport 0 —25-15, 25-23, and 25-23!
“Leah Vessekuil was a powerhouse with 9 kills and 6 huge blocks, while Brielle Ehlers added 7 kills. Neva Mittlestadt dished out 18 assists to fuel the offense, and Lilian Mansueto anchored the defense with an incredible 27 digs! It was an all-around team effort—dominant blocking, gritty defense, and explosive offense.” – Cards Coach Al Capps
Boys Soccer
Fort Atkinson 1 Beaver Dam 0
Mayville 3 Lomira 0

Mayville Boys Soccer won at Lomira on Thursday by a score of 3-0. The Cardinals scored in the first half through Gerardo Carvajal Lopez, who scored from close range. They extended their lead in the 42nd minute when Alexis Chavez Vasquez set up Joey Robson for a good finish off the far post. Nick Wojahn completed the scoring on a corner kick taken by Robson. Seth Zastrow made 2 saves for the Cardinals, who improved to 2-1 in the Flyway Conference and 3-3 overall.
“We showed lots of hustle and desire by being first to the ball during the game. Our energy made the difference because we were able to control the play, and when our opportunities came we were able to score. Lomira has been a tricky fixture for us the past few seasons and it feels good to have a strong performance against them.” – Coach Brownlow
