Possible Threat Against Beaver Dam High School Determined To Be Not Credible

(Beaver Dam) A threat made against the Beaver Dam High School was determined to be not credible. District Superintendent Mark DiStefano says the threat was reported to law enforcement and school officials that may have referenced the high school community overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.

He adds that through a cooperative agency response, including local police, they were able to confirm that the comments made were not credible. DiStefano notes that the determination was made early Thursday morning and thanked the efforts of law enforcement.

“First and foremost…we’re really appreciative of the ongoing and continued partnership that we have with law enforcement,” say DiStefano. “They were really key and valuable as it related to us…one, becoming aware of the prospect of a threat that needed to be investigated as well as their very thorough follow through and work on this to help us determine essentially that it was not a credible threat.”

DiStefano says that this message is a grounding reminder that safety is and must be their number one priority. He adds that any comments, threats or perceived threats will be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly and where applicable, significant and harsh discipline will be leveraged.
