(Markesan) Markesan Police are warning residents about a couple of scammers’ favorites. Scam calls are being made by people posing as Microsoft or Apple representatives saying your computer has been hacked. Police say it is an effort to get money out of you. Another perennial scam is one using the Publisher’s Clearing House name. The scammer will tell you that you’ve won a large sum of money, but in order to secure it you have to purchase gift or cash cards and give them the numbers to those cards. Police say Publisher’s Clearing House never notifies winners by phone or Social media.
