(Hustisford) A team of professionals is coming to Hustisford to help define the community’s future goals. A group of local business owners and community leaders reached out to Design Wisconsin in the Fall of 2020. The program, offered through the UW-Extension, works with selected Wisconsin communities that are interested in developing a shared vision for their future. Design Wisconsin works collaboratively with array of volunteering professionals with backgrounds in architecture, urban design, landscape, economics, education, and community marketing. Roughly 20 professionals are slated to visit Hustisford in May for a three day workshop, also called a “charette” (sure-et).
This effort formed the PATH of Hustisford, a group of eight individuals plus their local Dodge County Extension representatives who have been preparing for upcoming workshop. PATH’s Co-Leader Tanya Lemke says the best thing the public can do to show their support is show up. She encourages everyone to get involved and (quote) “have a voice.” Lemke says their goal is to get as many people as possible to show up to the Community Hall on Friday, May 13th. She says it is the official public kickoff as there will be a community potluck and a brainstorming workshops start.
During a recent appearance in WBEV’s Community Comment, Lemke discussed some of the areas of focus when the workshops begin. She says Hustisford is a small community and it takes money to make things happen. Lemke says that brings to the forefront the importance of focusing their community vision and having a plan for the future in place.
Lemke says anyone can be a part of PATH of Hustisford. She says from residents to stakeholders, business leaders, they are even reaching out to their federal, state, and local representatives. The Town of Hubbard, who its residents are taxpayers of the Hustisford School District, have also committed to support this project.
Lemke says they are still coordinating places for the professionals to present, organizing food and beverage for meetings, and setting up lodging. Anyone interested in helping is asked to reach out to PATH of Hustisford at pathofhustisford@gmail.com or at Facebook by searching PATH of Hustisford.
