(WATERTOWN — WTMJ) Watertown police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning.
Police say officers were dispatched around 12:40 a.m. on Dec. 21 to reports of a pickup truck striking a pedestrian along East Main Street. The crash began in the East Madison and 5th Street and ended in the 2nd Street.
A 35-year-old man was found near East Main Street and 2nd Street, and was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators say the suspect vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived. Through the use of license plate reader data and video evidence, police were able to identify the vehicle involved.
The registered owner of the vehicle, a 54-year-old man, was later located at his residence and arrested. He has been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run causing death.
