(Watertown) The Watertown man who is believed to have faked his own death to flee the country is in custody, according to online documents. The website VINE, which updates inmate custody status, shows Ryan Borgwardt in custody at the Green Lake County Jail. The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office has called a 10am press conference Wednesday to update the case.
Borgwardt was originally reported missing on August 11th after kayaking on Green Lake. Authorities say the 45-year-old staged his own death and then fled to Eastern Europe.
