One Person Is Dead After Crash Near Highway 26 In Township Of Watertown

(Watertown) One person is dead after a car, which had struck a semi, was hit again by a passing vehicle Wednesday. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was advised that at 11:30am a northbound vehicle collided into the rear of a semi in the area of State Highway 26 just south of High Road in the township of Watertown. Both the driver and a passenger in the vehicle had sustained non-life threatening injuries. As deputies were responding, a third vehicle that was passing by then hit the stationary car causing it to spin, burst into flames and strike the driver who was standing outside the vehicle. The passenger, who had remained inside the car after it struck the semi, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation; authorities have not released any names. The Watertown Fire and EMS, Johnson Creek EMS, Jefferson County Emergency Communications and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Officer assisted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Major Accident Investigation Team at the scene.
