TOWN OF JEFFERSON, Wis. — One person is dead and another was injured after a motorcycle crash Friday evening in Jefferson County.According to a news release from Jefferson County Sheriff Travis Maze, deputies responded at 7:47 p.m. Friday, June 6, to a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in the area of U.S. Highway 18 and Bakertown Road in the Town of Jefferson.The sheriff’s office said the motorcycle was found in a ditch on the north side of Highway 18 between Bakertown Road and Coffee Road.Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle had been traveling west on Highway 18 when it entered the gravel portion of the shoulder on the north side of the road. The driver tried to get back onto the roadway but was unable to recover, and the motorcycle crashed, according to the release.There were two people on the motorcycle. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken by ambulance to Aurora Summit Hospital for further medical treatment.The crash is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team.The Helenville Fire Department, Jefferson Fire Department, Jefferson EMS and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
