(BURNETT) A deadly crash early Thursday morning shut down part of County Highway A near Burnett, ending with one driver killed after a head-on collision with a semi.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 6:19 a.m. near Prospect Road, after a citizen called 911 to report a car driving erratically and crossing the centerline while heading north on Highway A near Juneau. A deputy responding from the Beaver Dam area was still en route when the caller told dispatchers the car had slammed head-on into a semi.
The driver of the car was the only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity or hometown, pending investigation and notification.
The semi driver, a 38-year-old man from Burnett, was not hurt. He was checked by medical personnel at the scene and released.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including the Horicon Fire Department and EMS, Burnett Fire Department and first responders, Juneau Fire Department, and the Dodge County Medical Examiner. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
