Officials Urge Safety On ATV and UTV’s This Summer

(BEAVER DAM) Even though the Fourth of July weekend has passed, safety officials are encouraging ATV enthusiasts to operate safely. So far this year, 19 people have died in ATV and UTV crashes.

Most involved those not wearing seat belts or a helmet. Alcohol and speeding were also contributing factors.

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says ATV or UTV riders in the area need to be cautious while on busier roadways.โ€ฏ

โ€œI would hate to have anybodyโ€ฆlet alone any of our deputies roll up on another one of these fatalities,โ€ says Schmidt. โ€œItโ€™s no different than a traffic fatality with a vehicle. We roll up on these and itโ€™s another family, itโ€™s another brother, another sister, another mother, father, friends that are losing a loved one.โ€โ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏ
