News – September 4, 2024

(Dodge County) A number of cities in Dodge County received transportation aid from the state. The governor and the department of transportation recently announced that municipalities across the state received more than $138-million-dollars. Beaver Dam is in line for $274-thousand-dollars in general transportation aid. The city is also receiving just over $16-thousand in Connecting Highway Aid which assist communities with costs associated with increased traffic and maintenance on roads that connect segments of the state highway system.โ€ฏโ€ฏ 

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam Rotary is seeking sponsors for the 2024 Rotary Lights Display at Swan Park. This year marks the 8th year the Rotary has decorated Swan Park for the Holidays. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt recently emphasized the urgency of securing sponsors and highlighted sponsorship of the Historic Springhouse. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Unified School District is hosting a pair of informational sessions in the coming days. Starting at 10:00am today, the organization will be at the Watermark Community Center to answer any questions about the upcoming referendum. On Saturday, the Unified School District will be hosting a community open house at both Washington Elementary and Beaver Dam Middle School from 9am-noon. Those attending can take a tour, ask questions, or walk around on their own.   

(Watertown) Watertownโ€™s Water Utility plans to flush hydrants throughout the city starting in September. Flushing will mainly occur between 7am to 3pm beginning September 9th, with one crew starting on Main Street โ€“ from 1st Street and 8th Street โ€“ and a second crew will begin on Hospital Drive. City officials say flushing will continue that week Tuesday through Friday from 7am to 3pm and the week of September 16th. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Orchestra is looking to fill a few openings in the group. Those interested in joining the Beaver Dam Area Orchestra can email bdaomusicdirector@gmail.com, there is no audition required, though there is a screening process. (Columbus) Registration is now open for under four through under eight recreational fall soccer. The under four age group (ages three and four) will have lessons on Sundays at 10am from September 8 through October 13. The cost is $45 dollars for residents and $55 dollars for non-residents. The under six age group, which is ages five and six, will have a choice between Sundays at 11am and Thursdays at 4pm which runs from September 8 through October 13 or Tuesdays and Fridays at 4pm from September 10 through October 15. The cost for either session is 60 dollars for residents and $70 dollars for non-residents.
