(Mayville) The Mayville Police Department has concluded its investigation into a threat complaint made towards a school district building. Authorities say the threat complaint was received on September 20th via the FBI from an anonymous source that raised concerns about safety of the Mayville Junior and Senior High School. In conjunction with the FBI and the Mayville School District, the police department conducted a thorough investigation and found that there is no credible threat to the safety and security of students and staff.
(Horicon) The new chief of police in Horicon was sworn in this week. Aaron Berkin has been hired to fill the role. Berken comes to the city with many years of prior law enforcement service. In a post on social media, the Horicon Police Department say they are excited to see what the future of the department holds under his leadership. The official ceremony took place during the cityโs Common Council meeting on Tuesday.
(Waupun) A non-profit group in Waupun is leading an effort to expand the cityโs sculpture collection. Last fall, the Waupun Common Council was asked to consider participating in a program that would increase public art displays. Jeni Maly (molly), the owner of Imagine That Art Studio, and an art teacher at Waupun Area School District, recently returned to the community and had a keen interest in helping renew interest in public art. Maly started a non-profit called Create Waupun whose sole mission is to obtain sculptures and murals for the betterment of the city.
(Ashippun) The annual Harnischfeger Park FallFest is taking place near Ashippun later this month. Events include outdoor musical entertainment, tractor pulled wagon rides, a pancake breakfast, chain saw art demonstrations, and dog weight pull competitions. There will also be bucket raffle drawings and silent auctions. Admission is free but certain events cost money. All proceeds are used to fund park projects. FallFest runs from 8am to 4pm on September 28th.
(Beaver Dam) Residents are invited to attend UnMasked Expressive Therapies new location Open House and Ribbon Cutting tomorrow (Saturday) in Beaver Dam. The event takes place from 9:30am to 11:30am, with the ribbon cutting being held at 10:30am outside the front of the studio. The building, at 209 South University Avenue, is the new home of the Art Therapy studio founded in 2016.
(Hustisford) PATH of Hustisford is hosting a dedication ceremony for their new mural Saturday at 1pm.ย The dedication will take place at the corner of Tweedy and Lake Streets in Hustisford, outside the Nature Made Heaven Scene Soap Shop building. The mural was designed by local resident, Grace London and completed alongside her parents, Carrie and Nate London. In total, the mural took around 81 hours to complete.
