(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School Board approved its 2024-2025 budget at their meeting this week. Operating expenditures total $43.5-million-dollars and the document includes a tax levy of $18.8-million. The mill rate of $6.88 per one-thousand-dollars of assessed of value is a decrease of 2.87-percent from the $7.09 approved last year.   

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School Board recently heard an update from its school resource officers. The district has three sworn law enforcement officers responsible for the safety and crime prevention in schools. They are Officer Matthew Edwards who covers all five elementary schools; Officer Andy Strachota who works with the middle school; and Officer Tony Karel who covers the high school. All three spoke to the importance of having three school resource officers and the ability to provide adequate coverage and safety for kids.ย 

(Dodge County) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reporting that the fire danger across the state is high to very high. The dry ground and strong winds is contributing to the current conditions. According to the DNRโ€™s wis-burn page, Dodge Countyโ€™s fire danger is high along with Columbia and Jefferson counties. (Dodge County) A number of cities in Dodge County received transportation aid from the state. The governor and the department of transportation recently announced that municipalities across the state received more than $138-million-dollars. Beaver Dam is in line for $274-thousand-dollars in general transportation aid. The city is also receiving just over $16-thousand in Connecting Highway Aid which assist communities with costs associated with increased traffic and maintenance on roads that connect segments of the state highway system.โ€ฏโ€ฏ 

(Dodge County) Vehicle sales in Dodge County are up when compared to last yearโ€™s numbers. According to the Waterloo-based industry tracking firm Reg-Trak, there were 2,193 vehicles sold in Dodge County through September, 121 more than by the same time one year ago, an increase of nearly six-percent. However, car sales were down 6.7-percent while truck sales jumped by over seven-percent.
