(Beaver Dam) Wisconsin GOP gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels and Senator Ron Johnson made campaign stops in Beaver Dam yesterday (Friday). Over 100 people lined the Monarch Plaza parking lot to hear both Michels and Johnson make their pitches to local voters.
(Burnett) A Ripon man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in the township of Burnett yesterday (Friday) morning. The 32-year-old operator attempted to pass a semi on Highway E in a no-passing zone and struck a raccoon. The bike left the roadway and collided with a guy-wire. The driver was taken via helicopter to a trauma center with what is believed to be life-threatening injuries. Authorities say alcohol use, speed, and reckless driving have been identified as factors in the crash.
(Juneau) Local law enforcement is reminding motorists to be on the lookout for school buses and pedestrians. It is the Dodge County Sheriffโs Office October Law of the Month. According to state statutes, the operator of a vehicle which approaches from the front or rear of any school bus displaying its flashing red lights shall stop and remain stopped no less than 20 feet away until the bus is resumes motion or the red lights are turned off.
(Beaver Dam) Today (Saturday) the Beaver Dam Area Orchestra is putting on a free fall concert during Fall Fest. The orchestra is community-oriented and has been performing since 1954 under the direction of Glen Wood. Orchestra Director Erin Ebersol says that there are so many great tunes either related to Halloween or otherwise that can be performed. Beaver Dam Area Orchestra coordinator David Saniter encourages the public to go see the show because it is such a wonderful experience.
(Beaver Dam) The deadline is Monday for those interested in filling a vacancy on the Beaver Dam Common Council. District Nine Alderwoman Jaci Shelton stepped down from the position last month after moving out of the area. The district is bordered on the north by Industrial Drive, the west by Grove and De Clark streets, on the east by Spring Street and at the south by Winn Terrace, Cherry Court, Main Street and Jackson Street. The term runs through April of next year when the seat is up for the full two-year timeframe. Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest and a declaration of candidacy to the Beaver Dam City Clerkโs Office by 4pm on Monday (October 31). The individual selected would be appointed by the common council during their November 7 meeting.
