(Horicon) The Dodge County Sheriff details his investigation into the Horicon Common Council’s vote to dissolve the city’s Police and Fire Commission in a press release. The Dodge County DA’s office last week declined to prosecute allegations of Misconduct In Office after the council disbanded the PFC for not adhering to the employee handbook in hiring a new police chief. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says members of the PFC issued a formal complaint and an investigation revealed that while no violation of the law could be proven he believes the action violated the state statute’s intent of an independent civilian board.
(Ashland County) Two people are dead after a plane crashed in northern Wisconsin. The crash happened on Saturday afternoon in the town of Marengo in Ashland County. There were two people in the plane, a 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both from Marengo. The plane struck a house in the crash but no one was home at the time. Both the N-T-S-B and the F-A-A are investigating.
(Madison) A Dane County judge will hold a conference Monday morning on a request to block subpoenas issued by Assembly Republicans. The subpoenas directed at the Wisconsin Elections Commission are part of the partisan, taxpayer funded probe of the 2020 presidential election being overseen by former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman. Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul filed a request last week for the subpoenas to be blocked. Dane County Judge Rhonda Lanford will hold a conference this morning to consider Kaul’s request.
(Columbus) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a road improvement project between Waterloo and Columbus. Work includes resurfacing the pavement along Highway 89 as well as reconstructing the County Road TV intersection north of Waterloo. Highway 89 will be closed and detoured for reconstruction. The detour route will follow Highway 19 and Highway 73. Highway 89 will remain open to local residences and businesses. Construction is currently slated for 2024.
(Waupun) Waupun officials are asking residents to complete a market survey in an effort to better support downtown businesses and capitalize on potential opportunities.
