(Wisconsin) This Halloween, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections will again be working with local law enforcement agencies to closely monitor sex offenders on probation. The effort is to keep children safe during Halloween trick-or-treat activities. Individuals on the sex offender registry who are on probation or parole are prohibited from having Halloween decorations inside or outside of their homes, may not distribute candy or participate in other trick-or-treating activities and must keep their porch lights off during trick-or-treating. Offenders in violation of the “Trick of Treating Restrictions” will be placed into custody.  

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department’s Drone Team was recently credited for aiding Waupun authorities in arresting a man on the run. Police in Waupun were called to a residence on West Jefferson Street earlier this month for a report of a physical disturbance. The 28-year-old suspect fled the scene and was believed to be hiding in a nearby wooded area. The Beaver Dam police drone was utilized to help law enforcement locate the man thanks to its thermal cameras. He was quickly taken into custody and is facing charges of Resisting and Domestic Battery. 

(Wisconsin) If you have debt collectors hounding you for payments, make sure those debts are real. Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin Spokesperson Lisa Schiller says there are plenty of phony collection agencies out there. She encourages the public to not pay a debt agency unless they can provide an exact listing of the debt you owe in writing. Shiller notes that any legitimate agency will be happy to provide that information. – WRN

(Columbus) The Columbus Fire Department recently received a donation that will help them better fight fires. Recently, Columbus Chemical Industries Chairman of the Board Richard Sheard discussed with Deputy Fire Chief Jerrod Fox about agency needs. One of the bigger needs outlined was firefighter attack hoses, as the department has 47 rolls that are over 17 years of age. After learning this, Fox says Sheard and his company were gracious enough to donate $10,000 to get new fire hose attack lines and also spare hoses in the next few months. 

(Wisconsin) The coolest thing made in Wisconsin is Jolly Good Soda. The product won the annual contest put on by Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce which draws attention to Wisconsin’s vibrant manufacturing industry. A product made in Dodge County made it to the final round of voting. One of the four finalists was the John Deere X700 Signature Series tractors, manufactured in Horicon.
