(Dodge County) Republican incumbents in the region fared well in Tuesday’s election. In the state assembly, Mark Born withstood a write-in challenge from Steve Rydzewski, Will Penterman of Columbus secured his first full term in the legislature after defeating Democrat Maureen McCarville, Jon Plumer was the leading vote getter over Democrat Theresa Valencia. The Fifth Congressional District is staying under GOP control with incumbent Scott Fitzgerald securing a second consecutive seat after besting Democratic challenger Mike Van Someren.

(Wisconsin) Voters said yes to Moraine Park Technical College’s $55-million-dollar referendum that will update and expand facilities. Waupun residents voted to allow the school district to exceed the state’s revenue limits by $980-thousand-dollars annually for three years for operating expenses. In Columbia County, town of Randolph voters passed a referendum by a razor thin margin that will see garbage and biweekly recycling pickup instead of a monthly garbage drop off at a cost of up to $190 on the tax bill. In the town of Lowell, the position of town clerk will be appointed by the board. Voters in the town of Theresa also said they want the town clerk and town treasurer appointed.

(Wisconsin) Governor Tony Evers has won reelection over challenger Tim Michaels with the republican challenger conceding the race in the early morning hours. In other state races, there has been no official call on the Senate race as incumbent Ron Johnson holds a narrow lead of about 30,000 votes over challenger Mandela Barnes. For Attorney General, incumbent Josh Kaul has held his office against challenger Eric Toney.

(Juneau) Dodge County Clerk Karen Gibson says voter turnout was comparable to the last gubernatorial election in 2018. She says there were 39,325 ballots cast. There were 38,018 votes four years ago. Gibson says all results were in around 9:20pm which she called (quote) “fantastic” and credited the hard work of all poll workers and county clerks.

(Wisconsin) Wisconsin Elections Administrator Megan Wolfe says once municipalities around the state have finished canvassing their vote totals, Wisconsin’s 72 counties will complete their canvass. If there are no recounts requested, the chair of the Wisconsin Elections Commission will certify statewide results. That process must be completed no later than December 1st. – WRN

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department is hosting a parental workshop Wednesday night highlighting the current trends in online sexual exploitation of children. The agency says the presentation will include an overview of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and some of the top online applications where law enforcement currently sees exploitation occurring. The workshop will begin at 6:30pm at the Beaver Dam Middle School Auditorium. It is not required, but those going are asked to pre-register. (Dodge County) The Wisconsin State Patrol will be patrolling the skies of Dodge County Wednesday. Weather permitting, the State Patrol’s Air Support Unit will run aerial enforcement over Interstate 41.

(Wisconsin) The Wisconsin DNR celebrates a successful elk hunt. Efforts to reintroduce the elk to Wisconsin began in 1995 and the estimated population of the clam Lake herd in Northwest Wisconsin is 336. The state’s fifth elk hunt opened Saturday October 15th and closed Wednesday October 19th. – WRN
