(Lomira) A vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 41 lead to an accident that claimed two lives Wednesday evening. Authorities with the Dodge County Sheriffโ€™s Office received 911 calls referencing a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 41 near State HWY 67 in the township of Lomira around 6:20pm. While enroute, dispatch received calls that a two vehicle accident had occurred. Arriving on scene deputies found that a 2011 Subaru SUV, driven by an 82 year old Campbellsport woman was traveling north on 41 collided head on with a 2008 Honda Minivan, driven by a 34 year old Oshkosh man traveling south. Both drivers, lone occupants of their vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

(Beaver Dam) The city of Beaver Dam is seeking ideas to improve the community. Residents, businesses, commercial property owners, and community organizations are invited to develop new recommendations and opportunities that will shape the future of Beaver Dam for the next two decades. The initiative is a community-driven committee where their ideas become the basis for the cityโ€™s new Community Action Plan, in conjunction with Beaver Damโ€™s Comprehensive Plan activities. A kick off meeting will be held on December 14th at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre beginning at 5pm. The committee meetings will run from January through May. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School Board recently held a facility master planning workshop in partnership with architects PRA and construction manager CG Schmidt. Cost options and projected estimates include $62.3-to-$71.6-million-dollars for middle school renovation and addition, and $83.6-to-$95.9-million for new middle school construction. For Washington Elementary, phase one renovation costs ranged from $5.9-to-$6.8-million-dollars and phase two costs ranged from $18-to-$20.7-million-dollars. A community survey will also be developed and is expected to be ready by this coming spring.

(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims saw improvement in the month of October. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.5-percent in the 10th month of 2023 which is a drop from the 2.8-percent the county saw in September. Last year, the number was 2.3-percent. Dodge County jumped two spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to seventh.

(Beaver Dam) โ€œIn Hein Sight-Itโ€™s About Timeโ€ takes the stage at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre with shows on December 7th and 8th at 7:30pm, and a matinee show on December 9th at 2pm. Director and host, Judy Hein, says the show features some skits, musical numbers, dance numbers, and appearances from decades old television characters. (Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College is now accepting applications for its new Emergency Dispatch certification program. Students in the program can expect to learn about the roles of a communications officer and the technology utilized at an emergency dispatch center. Through live scenarios, they will learn about the types of calls received, how to manage and direct resources, and how to utilize strategies to minimize high-stress environments.
