(Juneau) With the arrival of winter weather, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists of the dangers of slippery road conditions. These types of conditions cause more accidents, especially hitting unattended vehicles parked on the side of the road. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says that if somebody does hit a parked vehicle, they must at a bare minimum have to leave their contact information notifying them. He says if that is done, it is not a hit and run, but adds that if somebody does flee the scene without proper notice, it is a crime and if there are injuries involved, there could be criminal charges.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department not only stresses the importance of mental health resources, but also mental health education. Officer Joseph Salazar says the police academy spent an extended amount of time teaching him the crisis cycle and how to appropriately act. He adds that the best thing for people to do is educate themselves on identifying the potential signs and red flags of a mental health crisis.

(Juneau) The Dodge County Land Resources and Parks Department recently secured a grant from the state’s Department of Tourism. The $39,550 Joint Effort Marketing grant will primarily be directed towards conducting research to identify the region’s unique tourism assets and aligning visitor perceptions with current marketing efforts. This study will also help Dodge County pinpoint branding, marketing, and development prospects.

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam based nonprofit is ready to grow their impact heading into 2024. Church Health Services provides dental, medical, and mental health services to low-income children and adults living in South Central Wisconsin. The organization is increasing their mental health facilities, as there has been a building expansion project in progress since the middle of the summer. Church Health Services plans to go from having two confidential rooms to seven. The project is expected to be finished by January and will be followed by an open house.

(Beaver Dam) The 14th annual Red Kettle Concert will be taking place this Sunday (December 3rd) at 2pm in the Beaver Dam High School Auditorium. Organizer Joanne Tyjeski says the concert started because she thought her handbell group was a natural fit for the Salvation Army. Admission is free, but the Beaver Dam Kiwanis Club will be present to accept donations following the performance.
