(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man accused of murdering his ex-wife entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment hearing yesterday. Ulisses Medina Espinosa is charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of Stacia Hollinshead of Sycamore, Illinois. Beaver Dam Police Officer Meagan Scott, who was among the first on scene, says when she entered the home she observed the defendants mother screaming, repeating to police โ€œhe killed her.โ€ Medina Espinosa was found nearby kneeling next his daughter. The 31-year-old lost custody in their divorce.

(Juneau) A Pardeeville man was convicted yesterday (Thursday) of attempting to escape from the Dodge County Jail. Eric Frymark pled to felony Escape and Bail Jumping and had had a handful of other charges dismissed but read into the record. Frymark tried fleeing from the facility while in route from court in February. The 28-year-old was apprehended a short time later in a shed behind a residence on Main Street and was taken to jail. Frymark was sentenced to 105 days behind bars with work release privileges and was given 95 days of presentence credit along with two yearsโ€™ probation.

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam woman was convicted yesterday or threatening police. Ashley Horning pleaded guilty to a felony charge of Threats to Law Enforcement. Horning kicked at officers and made various threats towards police following an altercation outside a bar on Madison Street in Beaver Dam last month. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered and Horning is due back in court on July 29.

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam woman accused of shooting her boyfriend in the groin entered a not guilty plea at arraignment yesterday. Tonya Diniz (die-nez) Diniz reportedly said she shot the 20-year-old after confronting him about text messages she uncovered. She says the gun accidentally went off as she knelt on the bed. If convicted, the 28-year-old Diniz is facing up to 13 years in prison.

(Reeseville) A Carlisle, Pennsylvania man charged with assaulting two minors in Reeseville is heading to trial after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday. Steven Barlow allegedly admitted to the assaults that occurred while he was living with the victimโ€™s family between 2015 and 2017. If convicted, the 23-year-old is facing a maximum sentence of 120 years in prison. Barlow will be arraigned in July.

(Juneau) Dodge County needs more EMTs. Fewer young people are becoming Emergency Medical Technicians which is magnified by an aging workforce. Dodge County Emergency Management Director Amy Nehls says it is difficult to fill open positions due to the jobs requirements and annual training. She says the ideal candidate would have a commitment to their community and some extra-time on their hands. Those interested in becoming an EMT should call their local fire department or reach out to the countyโ€™s Emergency Management Office. (Mayville) The grand opening for phase one of the Gold Star Memorial Trail is tomorrow (Saturday). The ten-foot wide paved trail โ€“ so named to honor fallen veterans โ€“ extends two miles from Mayvilleโ€™s Theiler (tyler) Park to the Horicon Marsh Visitor Center, running along County Highway TW and State Highway 28. Festivities begin at 9am and the dedication gets underway at 10am with Army Chaplain Colonel Douglas Fleischfresser serving as the keynote speaker.
