(Beaver Dam) One person was killed in a single vehicle crash in the township of Beaver Dam Sunday morning. A Chrysler van heading north on Highway 151 took the Highway B off-ramp around 12:26am and traveled through the intersection, struck a sign, went down an embankment, and hit a fence as well as a tree. The 64-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital and was pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation.

(Lamartine) Fond du Lac County authorities pursued a suspect for six miles over the weekend. A deputy ran a vehicle’s plates on Highway 23 in the town of Lamartine Saturday just before 8pm and discovered the registered owner had an active felony warrant. The vehicle accelerated away following law enforcement’s attempts to make contact. The chase continued northbound on Highway 26 until deputies lost sight of the vehicle. Authorities later found the suspect’s car after it struck a power pole which disabled it. The operator was located running in a nearby farm field and was taken into custody. The 31-year-old Fond du Lac man is facing felony Fleeing charges.

(Juneau) Public comments are being sought on the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office efforts to gain accreditation. Sheriff’s officials say it is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. Members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session this Wednesday afternoon starting at 5pm. The session will be held in the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Center/Training Room located on the second floor of their office in Juneau. Those unable to attend can offer comments via phone Wednesday between one and 2:30pm by calling 920-386-4074.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School Board approved the formation of a boys’ co-op hockey team. Athletic Director Ryan Gerber says that the team would be formed to sustain the program and not build a “super team.” Gerber feels that this is the best way to sustain the program and says that travelling in hockey is common.

(Waupun) SSM Health’s new eye care services in Waupun is opening today Monday. The 5,400-square-foot facility is located on the lower level of SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital’s recent two-story addition with parking available just off Main and Beaver Dam streets. The $4.2-million-dollar project will offer the services of an ophthalmologist, two optometrists, and five eye care assistants using advanced diagnostic capabilities. There is also an optical shop on site.

(Monona) The American Red Cross has set up a shelter for residents displaced by an early Saturday morning fire at Monona Hills Apartments. One person was found dead following the fire. The Red Cross estimates roughly 70 people will be using the shelter at St. Stephens Lutheran Church. – WRN
