(Watertown) The driver of an all-terrain vehicle was injured in a rollover accident in the Town of Clyman Saturday afternoon. Michael Housel was transported by MedFlight to UW Hospital in Madison with non-life-threatening injuries. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the 54-year-old Watertown man was southbound on County Road DJ when his ATV left the roadway and overturned, ejecting him. Housel was arrested by deputies for first offense OWI.ย The DNR is investigating the crash.
(Town of Dane) A man accidentally ran over and killed his 8-year-old son on a Dane County farm. It happened late Friday on a farm in the Town of Dane. That’s according to information from the Dane County Sheriff’s Department which said the child was run over with a skid-steer loader. Both the boy and his father were recent immigrants from Nicaragua. The Dane County District Attorneyโs Office was working to raise money to return the boyโs body to Nicaragua.
(Winnebago County) There was little damage to a single engine plane when a pilot had to land alongside Highway 44 near Knott Road in Winnebago Countyโs Utica Township Sunday. Winnebago County Sheriffโs officials say at first the pilot couldnโt be located but returned to talk with NTSB and FAA officials. After experiencing engine trouble, the plane landed in a farm field and ended up in a ditch along Highway 44. The pilot was the only one on board and was not injured.
(Lomira) Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says they were fortunate that no one exposed to separate reported cases of mumps in the county this summer developed the mumps. She says they kept their eye on anyone who was exposed to kids who developed the mumps. Mueller one case came out of Lomira and the other the city of Fond du Lac. In both cases the mumps was diagnosed by symptoms and not through blood testing.
(Beaver Dam) Mayor Becky Glewen went door-to-door to get information from residents on South Spring Street that was needed to secure a one-million-dollar grant. Glewen says they got a lot of forms back by mail but she hit the pavement after falling short. The city was awarded the Community Development Block Grant last week to overhaul Mill Street to Judson Drive. The project has an estimated price tag of up-to-$1.9-million dollars meaning up to $900-thousand dollars of tax levy money will be needed. Underground infrastructure is estimated to cost up to another $1.7-million dollars, which is being paid through the utility department. The reconstruction of South Spring is expected to start next year.
(Juneau) People getting married in Dodge County will have to pay just a little bit more for their marriage license starting next year. The Dodge County Board recently approved the spike in price. The license will increase from $70 to $100 with $25 going to the state and $20 going to family court. The rest will go to County Clerk Karen Gibsonsโ office; she says the increase is needed to cover staff costs. Gibson says benefits and salaries are going up and the only source of revenue her office has are marriage licenses. Supervisor Jeff Schmitt voted against the increase saying that the county is capitalizing on someone elseโs misery.
(Beaver Dam) A local non-profit will be holding a nationally-themed fundraising event this weekend. Tickets are still available at Rechekโs Food Pride and Beaver Dam Piggly Wiggly for Church Health Services an โEvening in New York City.โ There will be New York inspired food, live entertainment as well as areas that replicate famous landmarks such as Central Park, Times Square and Chinatown. This yearโs honorary chairs are Mike and Louis Augustson. The fundraiser will be held this Saturday at Old Hickory Golf Course and will begin at 6pm.
(Fond du Lac) If youโre heading to Fond du Lac this week, the state Department of Transportation says maintenance crews will be repairing pavement at a busy Interstate-41 interchange. The southbound off ramp to Fond du Lac County Highway D/Military Road will be closed starting today through 4pm Thursday.
