(Waupun) The city of Waupun has outlined several key focus areas to spend their American Rescue Plan Act funding on. Mayor Rohn Bishop says money has been set aside to replace the leaking roof at the police and fire department. Funds will also be allocated to expanding childcare in the city. Bishop says he would like to see some funds spent on updating the local baseball field and indoor hockey rink. The city has roughly $1.2-million in ARPA dollars to work with. The money must be committed no later than 2024 and be expended by the end of 2026.
(Lodi) A Lodi man was recently arrested by Columbia County authorities for his Seventh Operation While Intoxicated offense. David Miller was reportedly under the influence when he was stopped on Highway 60 for a registration violation last Thursday. Authorities also allegedly found cocaine following a body search. The 55-year-old was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Jail.
(Brownsville) A Brownsville man was sentenced to three years in prison for possessing illegal content of children. Dylan Rieman admitted that unknown people would send him links containing child pornography and that he traded the illegal content with others. He also said he used the online chat website Omegle to view child porn. The 26-year-old was also placed on extended supervision for five years.
(Wisconsin) The American Legion of Wisconsin is kicking off its 104th Annual Department convention tomorrow (Wednesday). The five-day event will see a number of different guest speakers share a few words and organizers will hand out several awards. Speakers include DAV Commander Rob Hilliard, Brigadier General David May, and Governor Tony Evers. The event is held at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center in Rothschild.
(Wisconsin) Wisconsin is among the top states in the nation call volume-wise for the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. Legislation turned a 1-800 number for the hotline into a three-digit number. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says over the last year, 988 Wisconsin has received approximately 91,000 calls or texts for mental health. Thatโs compared to 35,000 to 40,000 calls to the 800 number the year prior. Dodge Countyโs crisis line is 920-386-4094.
