(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council approved a resolution to conduct a fire station needs analysis. The city is contracting with Five Bugles Design at a cost of $24,000, which was set aside in the 2025 Capital Improvements Plan. The station, which is located at city hall, no longer complies with current building code in a variety of areas. It also lacks necessary decontamination facilities, appropriate locker rooms, and sleeping accommodations.
(Beaver Dam) There is a new face on the Beaver Dam Common Council. Elwood Lee took the oath of office for the District Two Seat during the council’s Monday night meeting. The District Two seat became vacant after Bobbi Marck was voted mayor in the November election.
(Beaver Dam) State Representative Mark Born was sworn in to the Wisconsin Legislature’s 107th regular session this week. The Beaver Dam Republican says that he is honored that the people of the 37th Assembly District have chosen him to represent them this session. He adds that he looks forward to working with his legislative colleagues to craft a biennial budget and legislation that serves the best interest of all Wisconsinites.
(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizen’s Police Academy. This will be the 21st year for the academy, which has given 243 residents an inside look at real police training tactics. The Citizen’s Academy will meet on Thursday evenings between 6pm and 10pm. The program begins in early March and ends in early June. The application deadline is February 15th.
(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man was found guilty yesterday (Tuesday) on a felony charge of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material. Chandler Semrau also had seven counts of Child Pornography dismissed but read into the record. The 26-year-old had his sentence withheld and was given 35 days of jailtime along with three years of probation. The complaint states the 26-year-old uploaded several images of child porn to Dropbox in 2022.
