(Juneau) Dodge County authorities say they have seen an uptick in storage unit thefts. Sheriff Dale Schmidt encourages people to let authorities know of a possible theft and make sure they have a quality tamper proof lock. He says another good idea is setting up a trail camera inside the unit so if someone does break in, there is photographic proof of who may have broken in.  

(Beaver Dam) A local organization that fights against sex trafficking has received a grant from the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation. 5-Stones of Dodge County which achieves its mission through awareness, prevention, education, networking, and collaboration was awarded a $500 check. The grant dollars will contribute to 5-Stonesโ€™ initiative for Januaryโ€™s National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month. It will also go towards a speaker event in March at the Beaver Dam High School on the dangers of sextortion. 

(Beaver Dam) State Representative and Beaver Dam Republican Mark Born was recently renamed co-chair of the Joint-Finance Committee. Born says his committee is mostly known for working on the budget document, but says it handles all spending and revenue matters. He adds the committee is made up of 16 total members, six from each house in the majority and two members from each house in the minority.  

(Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College passed a $55-million-dollar referendum in November 2022 that gave the college the opportunity to expand. Vice President of Teaching and Learning Doug Hamm says the project, which is in its third phase, is adding on to the West Bend campus facility and is expected to be wrapped up by Spring of 2025. The open house for that project will be in September. He adds that there is also a fourth phase, which is adding on to the medical wing at the Fond du Lac campus including new nursing simulations, surgical assistants and respiratory therapy.   

(Beaver Dam) Residents are invited to attend the Cabin Fever Fest in Beaver Dam later this month. The event is taking place on January 25th. Cabin Fever Fest is an annual event held in downtown Beaver Dam on the last Saturday in January at Crystal Lake Park, Tahoe Park, and the Watermark. Attendees will have access to sledding, ice skating, outdoor games, bonfires, and more.
