(Dodge County) With severe winter weather over the last few days, it was a busy stretch for local law enforcement. Despite a number of sheriff office’s around the area asking citizens to stay home, some drivers braved the snow and cold to hit the roads. Dodge County sheriff’s deputies responded to 65 vehicle runoffs last Friday, at least five accidents, roughly 20 motorist assist calls, and a fire. The cities of Waupun, and the villages of Lomira and Campbellsport issued snow emergency declarations. Because of the volume of vehicles that went off area roads some counties issued tow bans.  

(Dodge County) Fewer people died on Wisconsin roads last year when compared to 2022. There were 572 fatal traffic crashes in 2023, according to statistics from the state’s Department of Transportation. That number is 22 fewer than in 2022 and eight less than the five-year average. Dodge County saw 11 traffic deaths last year, the exact same figure reported two years ago and matches their average between 2019 and 2023.  

(Juneau) Officials with the Dodge County Public Health Department report a recent uptick in carbon monoxide calls. They are reminding the public to keep their finance exhaust pipes clear of snow. When the pipes become covered, carbon monoxide can build up in the home. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous, colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. Although it has no detectable odor, it is often mixed with other gases that do have an odor. Officials encourage making sure you have working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in your home.  

(Beaver Dam) Alliant Energy announced yesterday the completion of its Beaver Dam Solar Project. The 50-megawatt solar array, situated roughly four-miles outside of the city, spans 350 acres and consists of nearly 120-thousand solar panels. In total, the project is expected to produce enough energy to power approximately 13,000 homes annually.  

(Beaver Dam) The Church Health Services building has undergone some renovations and will be holding a public open house February 21st. Community Engagement Director Bev Beal-Loeck there will be refreshments, tours and the staff will be there to tell folks about each of the areas. She adds the most amazing piece of the renovation to her is renovating a six-bay garage into office and meeting room space. More information will be available later.
