(Waupun) The daughter of an inmate who killed himself in solitary confinement at a Dodge County prison has filed a federal lawsuit against state prison officials. The suit alleges they failed to provide adequate mental health care and medications. On the ninth day of a stint in solitary confinement at Waupun Correctional Institution last June, Dean Hoffman was found dead in his cell. He is one of at least three Waupun inmates who died at the facility in 2023. The other two deaths are under investigation. Hoffmanโ€™s daughter, Megan Hoffman Kolb, filed the lawsuit in Milwaukee Tuesday.

(Juneau) An inmate who did not return to the Dodge County Jail from a preapproved appointment has been arrested. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says Jennifer Peterson is now in custody as a result of a follow up investigation conducted by his deputies in collaboration with the Milwaukee Police Department. Law enforcement say Peterson left the jail last Saturday for a medical visit and never reported back to the jail.

(Dodge County) The Dodge County Center for the Arts will be displaying several special art collections beginning this weekend. The exhibit is called โ€œWhen Words Become Artโ€. On a recent Community Comment, Artist Tami DeLisle explained how the showings should connect artists between stories and media and evoke emotion. Admission is free. (Burnett) The public is encouraged to head out to Springbrook Events just outside of Beaver Dam tomorrow (Saturday) for โ€œWinter Fun Day.โ€ There will be a model horse show at 8am which kicks off the dayโ€™s festivities. (Beaver Dam) American Bank awarded $5,000 to Beaver Dam Pickleball in their efforts to fundraise money towards upgrades to the Athletic Field Pickleball courts. In a joint effort between the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation (BDACF) and the City of Beaver Dam, the Athletic Field Pickleball courts are set to be upgraded into a state of the art outdoor regional facility that will host tournaments and community gatherings.
