(Horicon) The Horicon School District has launched its search for the next superintendent. In December, Rich Appel announced that he will be resigning from the position on July 1st. The district is asking families, staff, and community members to fill out a brief survey sharing the skills, values, experience, and priorities they would like to see in the next superintendent. A link to the survey will be at DailyDodge.com and it is open to the public until March 10th.
(Beaver Dam) A recent legislative package approved by Assembly Republicans includes a bill that looks to ban the use of cellphones by students during class time. Beaver Dam Superintendent Mark DiStefano says many districts, including Beaver Dam, already have policies in place to restrict cellphone use during instructional time. He notes that the goal is to eliminate distractions while helping improve students’ mental well-being.ย
(Juneau) The Dodge County treasurer is sharing important information for those who may have missed paying their first installment property taxes. Kris Keith says first installment property taxes were due by January 31st to your local treasurer. She adds that if you missed you first installment payment, or paid less than the installment amount, any unpaid balance became delinquent as of February 1st and subject to one-point-five-percent (1.5%) interest and penalty per month.
(Beaver Dam) Marshfield Medical Center โ Beaver Dam is offering a spring funding program as part of its Community Health and Benefit initiative. The funding program is open to area organizations that are looking to start a new program or grow an existing program that aligns with at least one of the hospitalโs community health priorities. Organizations interested in applying for funding, which can range from $1,000 to $10,000, can do so online. A link will be at DailyDodge.com. Applications will be accepted through March 24th.
(Columbus) The Columbus Council discussed a task order related to the 2025 Street Maintenance Program at a recent meeting. City Engineer Jason Lietha says the city can apply for two Local Road Improvement Program grants but cannot accept both. He says when the city previously applied for those grants, they accepted the discretionary grant that had more money and declined the lower entitlement grant.ย ย ย ย ย
