(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is starting up a new crises’ responder program with help from Dodge County Health and Human Services. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says that calls related to mental health normally pop up this time of year when more people are couped up indoors.

(Iron Ridge) The Iron Ridge Fire Department is always looking for new staff. Currently, the department is staffed by 30 volunteers that cover a radius of 50 square miles. Chief Jason Keller says everyone is doing it for the community with a little bit of compensation on the side. He adds that the department is struggling with daytime staffing and is working on a plan to reach out to local businesses via letter and asking them if they would consider partnering with the department.     

(Watertown) Watertown Regional Medical Center was recently recognized for its patient safety. The hospital has earned an “A” Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that sets standards for excellence in patient safety. Watertown Regional was one of 19 hospitals in Wisconsin to earn the top grade in Leapfrog’s Fall 2024 ratings release. The “A” grade represents the seventh earned by Watertown Regional Medical Center in the last 10 Leapfrog grading periods, which are updated twice annually.  

(Columbus) The Columbus Council approved a resolution to support a small business development grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. If awarded, the grant would provide an opportunity for the city to create their own program to assist with business creation, retention, and expansion. The municipality’s proposed Façade Plus program would provide matching grants up to $50,000 dollars. 

(Beaver Dam) Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Beaver Dam Saturday for the annual Holiday Parade. This year’s theme was “Rock’n the Holiday’s” and there were 51 float entries. Also making appearances were the Dancing Grannies, Beaver Dam High School Marching Band, and Mr. And Mrs. Claus. This year’s Grand Mashal was Miss Wisconsin and Beaver Dam native Mandi Genord.
