News – August 8, 2022

(Reeseville) One person was arrested over the weekend following a stabbing incident in the village of Reeseville. Jose Damian Pineda was reportedly found by sheriff’s deputies holding a knife when they arrived at Reeseville Acre, 404 Lincoln Avenue, just before 8pm Saturday. They also located a victim who suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old Damian Pineda is facing multiple felony charges. The incident is still under investigation. 

(Dodge County) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an uptick in burglaries in the northwest part of the county. Authorities say the crimes are happening mostly in unoccupied homes. They ask the public to be vigilant as well as lock and secure your residence. Anyone who has seen something suspicious is asked to contact the sheriff’s office (920-386-3728 extension 8).

(Juneau) The biggest countywide race on local primary ballots will be for Dodge County sheriff. Barring a successful write-in campaign, tomorrow’s (Tuesday’s) election will decide if incumbent Sheriff Dale Schmidt will stay in office or if challenger Mark Colker will unseat him. You can watch our interviews with both candidates at DailyDodge.com. 

(Dodge County) Another decision some voters in Dodge County will have to make when they head to the polls tomorrow (Tuesday) is the race for Wisconsin’s Sixth Congressional District. Douglas Mullenix is challenging Glenn Grothman in the Republican primary. The Sixth Congressional District encompasses the northern portion of Dodge County and also includes Columbia, Green Lake, and Fond du Lac counties.   

(Dodge County) Dodge County skies will be filled with a bit more air traffic as the annual Northern Lightning Counterland exercise begins today (Monday). Northern Lightning is a tactical-level, joint training exercise replicating today’s air battle space with current and future weapons platforms. The exercise is based out of Volk Field at Camp Douglas. The training runs until August 19th.

(Portage) The Portage Fire Department will be receiving a new fire truck tonight (Monday). The agency is holding a push-in ceremony as they unveil their Pierce Fire Engine. A “push-in” ceremony pays homage to firefighters of the 1800’s who had to detach horses and push their equipment into the bay after a fire call. The ceremony will be held at 6pm at the Portage Fire Department. 

(Lebanon) A church in Lebanon will host a food pantry distribution event tomorrow (Tuesday). The monthly Ruby’s Pantry Food Distribution will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on W4661 County Road MM. The cost is $25 per share and those going can purchase more than one. The event gets underway at 3:30pm. To enter, drive through the fire station parking lot directly from Highway R to get in line.
