(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam is beginning construction of bicycle repair stations in key locations across the city. The stations are tentatively planned to be located at Vo-Tech Park, Swan Park, and Waterworks Park. The project is a collaborative effort between the city and the Beaver Dam High School. Students from the Beaver Dam High School Technology and Engineering program will play a key role in fabricating the stations, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful community improvement.
(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department several position openings including paid on-call. Chief Michael Wesle says that the position is used in the same capacity as a volunteer firefighter. He adds that they have begun the recruiting process for paid on-call firefighters for Fall 2025 and will be accepting applications through June 1st.
(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims saw little movement in the third month of 2025. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 3.1-percent in March, a two-tenths of percent improvement from February. Last year, the number was three-percent. Dodge County jumped five spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to ninth.
(Columbus) The Columbus Fire Department is hosting a live propane fire training tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6pm. The training is in partnership with the Wisconsin Propane Education and Research Council. It will consist of classroom instruction at the fire department on the physical properties of propane and a hands-on portion that includes five fire scenarios including a grill, forklift, bulk tank, and propane terminal piping props.
(Fond du Lac) Moraine Park Technical College and Fond du Lac County have partnered to create a Jail Academy. The Memorandum of Understanding agreement allows MPTC to offer correctional officer training academy. The program, called Jail Academy, is a Department of Justice accredited 200-hour program offered to both current Fond du Lac County and surrounding county employees to gain certification as a correctional officer.
