(Oak Grove) The jury was selected and opening statements were made Tuesday in the five-day jury trial of a Horicon man facing Vehicular Homicide charges. Daniel Bryfczynski was allegedly under the influence of marijuana, cocaine, ketamine, and opiates when he crossed the centerline on Highway 33 two years ago killing a 50-year-old Lake Mills woman. If convicted, the 48-year-old faces over 62 years in prison.

(Dodge County) A number of Dodge County agencies will be participating in โ€˜Prescription Drug Take Back Dayโ€™ later this month. Residents are encouraged to bring any unwanted, unneeded, and expired medications to their local law enforcement agency for proper disposal. There is no cost to dispose of the drugs which can be dropped off at the Dodge County Sheriffโ€™s Office in Juneau between 10am and 2pm on April 22nd as well as police departments in Beaver Dam, Columbus, Horicon, Juneau, Lomira, Mayville, Watertown, and Waupun.

(Juneau) The Wisconsin Department of Health is investigating a FoodShare scam that involves fake text messages. Jennie Farmer, with the ADRC of Dodge County, says that the creation of new technologies in the wake of the pandemic have given an opening to scammers and people should be careful about what information they give out. The ADRC suggests checking the FoodShare website instead of a random text message. Farmer adds that going to a general search engine is better than responding to a random text.

(Columbus) City officials in Columbus are discussing a possible resolution that would allow a private organization to collect funds to renovate the dilapidated city hall auditorium. Alderwoman Sarah Motiff says she supports renovation efforts, but would like to see greater city oversight. Alderwoman Shelly Albright agrees and has concerns about the Oak Cultural Center Corporation selecting the contractor for the 130-year-old auditorium on the top floor of city hall. The matter is expected to be discussed further at future meetings.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce is holding their annual dinner and gala at Old Hickory Golf Club in Beaver Dam on April 26th. Chamber president Tracy Propst says some of the awards being handed out are Five-Under Forty and Emerging Leader Award. Large businesses, small businesses, and organizations will also be recognized for innovation.
