New Watertown Fire Chief Sworn In

(Watertown) Watertown’s new fire chief was recently sworn in. The city hired Tanya Reynen to the position in March. Her public service career spans nearly two decades and had served as the deputy chief of training center at Lake County Fire Rescue.

Prior to her tenure at Lake Country Fire Rescue, Reynen served in various capacities including as a paid-on call firefighter/paramedic at Western Lakes Fire District, an adjunct fire/EMS instructor at Waukesha County Technical College, and as a firefighter/paramedic at Watertown Fire Department and Town of Brookfield Fire Department.

During the swearing in ceremony, Reynen said she is looking forward to this new opportunity.

“I’m stepping into a new network of department heads and neighboring fire chiefs…into a role where I have so much to learn,” said Reynen. “I’m excited to be [on] the next level where I now have the opportunity learning…collaborating…and growing our department and our city.”

Reynen holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Emergency Response Management from UW Oshkosh and an associate degree in Fire Science from Waukesha County Technical College. She is also a nationally registered EMT-paramedic, has completed the Executive Fire Officer program from the National Fire Academy, and holds numerous certifications in fire and EMS instruction and management.
