New Water Features Installed At Beaver Dam’s Splash Pad

(Beaver Dam) Two new water features were installed at the splash pad at Beaver Dam’s Swan Park. The features are provided by Waterplay, a leading splash pad and water park equipment manufacturer based in Canada.

Christine Ulmer is the marketing director at Waterplay. She says the Beaver Dam splash pad is a USA test pad location, which allows Waterplay to swap out different features and conduct extensive research on product designs.

“[It] gives us an opportunity to get real life…live data and understand how kids are playing with our features and how they’re holding up to the environment and elements,” says Ulmer. “It’s a really amazing partnership.”

Waterplay, city leaders, and others involved with the project were on hand at the splash pad Monday to see first-hand how local kids interact with the new features. Ulmer says Waterplay’s research team will be back to see how the new equipment holds up.

“What we’ll do over the long term is revisit the park…so, we’ll have our development team and our engineers come down and actually take some assessments of materials that we’re using,” says Ulmer. “[We’ll] look at if things are fading…compare it to original samples. It’s very hard to get that kind of data in our testing facility which is indoors. This is real-life wear-and-tear…how does it stand up to the winter. We work with the city on how busy is the pad and how many kids are getting here.”

The two new features are a tide pool designed to replicate a sand shell and a ground spray.
