New Beaver Dam Middle School Nears 90% Foundation Completion, Project Tracking Under Budget

(BEAVER DAM) Families in Beaver Dam are about to see the new middle school start to take shape.

Superintendent Mark DiStefano says the construction project is nearing 90% completion of footings and foundations. By mid-March, masons are expected to be on site to begin building upward โ€” a milestone that will make the new school more visible to the community.

DiStefano said the project continues to move along smoothly.

โ€œWeโ€™re approaching pretty close to that 90% footings and foundation completion point,โ€ he said, adding that heโ€™s excited for people to โ€œtruly appreciate that space and that siteโ€ once walls begin going up.

Behind the scenes, nearly all construction bids have been bought out. District leaders expect to finalize the projectโ€™s guaranteed maximum price within the next five weeks.

Based on current numbers, DiStefano said the district feels confident the overall package of projects will come in under budget. While the savings are not expected to be significant, he said even a modest cushion could create additional opportunities as discussions continue with the school board later this spring.

Voters approved the $107 million referendum to build the new middle school and complete related projects.

The new middle school is expected to be completed by the summer of 2027.ย It will be located on a 60-acre property on the cityโ€™s south side, east of Highway G and north of Highway 151
