New Alice In Dairyland Announced

(Wisconsin) The next Alice in Dairyland was named Saturday in Sturgeon Bay. Halei Heinzel of Oconomowoc was selected to become the 77th Alice.

“I actually did not grow up on a farm, but I started by getting involved in my local FFA chapter my junior year of high school,” says Heinzel. “I milked a cow for the very first time, which changed my life and sent me on a path toward agricultural advocacy.”

Heinzel will begin her duties in July travelling the state to talk about the importance of agriculture in Wisconsin. She will succeed the current Alice, Ashley Hagenow of Poynette. Heinzel will be graduating from UW-Madison with a degree in Life Sciences Communication later this week.

A Dodge County woman was one of the finalists this year for Alice in Dairyland. Cierra Essock of Fox Lake is the agricultural educator and FFA advisor at Hustisford Junior and Senior High School.

The Dodge County-area’s most recent connection to Alice in Dairyland was in 2010. Christine Lindner of Fall River, who grew up on her family’s farm just outside of Beaver Dam, was the state’s 63rd Alice.
