Nancy’s Notions Retail Store Is Closing

(Beaver Dam) The Nancy’s Notions retail store in Beaver Dam is closing. CEO Kristi Tacony-Humes cited the fate of other brick and mortar retail stores in a statement saying the company (quote) “has continued to face increasing competitive pressures over the past several years.” Tacony-Humes says the decision was difficult but necessary for their long-term, direct-to-consumer strategy. She says they are committed to focusing on their continued business transformation through an enhanced digital and merchandising strategy online at nancysnotions.com. A brand refresh is expected later this fall. Tacony-Humes says they are working to assist employees through the transition and are committed to maintaining existing relationships with vendors and other key stakeholders during the process. Nancy’s Notions was founded by Nancy Zieman in Beaver Dam four decades ago and was acquired by Tacony Corporation in Fenton, Missouri in 2003.  Zieman passed away a year-and-a-half ago. Her annual expo every May brought thousands to Beaver Dam year-after-year; the expo was not held this year. The final day for business at the retail store is July 31.
