(Beaver Dam) WBEV’s Community Comment will be video streaming Friday afternoon. Our guest: Beaver Dam musician Mark Malak, a steel guitar virtuoso better known by his stage name Eddie Rivers.
Eddie Rivers has appeared on over 40 commercial music releases and has toured all 50 states, Canada and beyond. Mark Malak had opportunity knock once, and he turned it down, instead finding solace in raising a family. He saw opportunity knock twice after his children had grown, and he embraced opportunity. Relocating from Beaver Dam Wisconsin to Austin Texas, Malak became the longest serving steel guitar player in the storied history of the Grammy Award-winning band Asleep at the Wheel.
Malak is the Beaver Dam Unified School District’s Outstanding Alumni for the year 2020. The video of the Wall of Fame induction ceremony will be released on the Beaver Dam School District’s website and Facebook page on June 2.
The rumor is that Mark “Eddie Rivers” Malak will be bringing his steel guitar and we may be treated to live music at the DailyDodge Television Studios on Bill McCollum Way when he is our guest Friday afternoon (Friday 5/28) on Community Comment airing on AM1430 WBEV and streaming and archived in audio and video at www.dailydodge.com/video.
