(Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College is number one when it comes to enrollment in technical colleges. The college outpaced all technical and post-secondary colleges in the state with an 11-percent increase. Vice President of Teaching and Learning Doug Hamm (ham) says that number is very staggering considering the current day and age.
“There are still schools that are not seeing that return, whether that’s a post-COVID situation,” says Hamm. “We’re also facing declining demographics as far as the enrollment cliff, as we call it. The birth rate in our area and in our country.”
Hamm says that fewer and fewer students are choosing to go the K through 12 route due to smaller family size. Hamm says he has some good news when it comes to this upcoming year.
“We’re looking at something very close for our next academic year with our enrolments and registrations right now,” Hamm says. “So, we/re on a very good trajectory.”
The VP of Teaching says that the school is living their dream and supporting the surrounding communities.
