(FOND DU LAC) Deputies are still trying to find a motorcyclist who took off at more than 140 miles per hour during a series of short pursuits Sunday night on Interstate 41.
The chase began around 8 p.m. near County Highway B in the Town of Byron, when a Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the motorcycle for speeding and a license plate violation. The rider accelerated past 130 mph, and the deputy ended the pursuit.
About three minutes later, another deputy saw the motorcycle exiting at South Hickory Street in Fond du Lac. When the rider spotted the squad car, they got back onto I-41 northbound and sped off again, reaching speeds over 140 mph. The deputy also noticed the license plate was mounted at an angle under the seat, making it unreadable, before ending the pursuit near West Johnson Street.
A third deputy tried to catch up near Townline Road in the Town of Friendship. When emergency lights were activated, the rider sped onto the shoulder and passed another vehicle before disappearing once more. That pursuit ended near Sales Road in the Town of Eldorado.
The motorcycle was last seen exiting I-41 at County Highway N. Deputies have not been able to locate the rider.
Investigators say the person was wearing dark clothing, a dark helmet, and a jacket with two distinct stripes down the back. The motorcycle’s make and model are unknown.
