Minnesota Woman Makes Initial Appearance In Dodge County On Seventh OWI Charge

(Lomira) A Minnesota woman facing a felony count of Seventh Offense Operating While under the Influence in Dodge County made her initial appearance in court Monday. Ebony Lane is also charged with Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration Seventh Offense stemming from the 2016 incident.

Dodge County Sheriffโ€™s deputies were called to Highway 41 near Lomira on July 4th for report of a vehicle that was swerving all over the road. The car was located and the driver was identified as someone from Minnesota with no prior OWI convictions. After the case closed as a default OWI First Offense, authorities learned the true identity of the suspect.

Information was shared with Minnesota Probation and Parole, which led them to reportedly believe the individual in custody was Lane who had six prior OWI convictions. Local authorities later learned that Lane allegedly used an ID she found in Minnesota that a person had misplaced while visiting.

If convicted, the 39-year-old faces up to 20 years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17th.
