(Wisconsin) Heavy rain caused plenty of problems around southeast Wisconsin Monday. Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport reported 2.05 inches of rain, which is the most rain ever recorded in a single day for the month of February.
Other spots around the area received upwards of two-and-a-half inches of rain. The Dodge County area did not see nearly as much rain fall yesterday. According to the National Weather Service, nearly a tenth to a half inch of rain fell throughout the county.
The unseasonable downpour flooded roadways, leaving vehicles stranded in deep rainwater. The heavy rain also prompted the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to initiate a combined sewage overflow. When the district’s deep tunnel becomes too full, a relief valve then begins sending untreated water to rivers that flow into Lake Michigan.
