(Fond du Lac) A Menasha teenager accused in an arson attack on a congressman’s district office has made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court. Caiden Stachowicz is facing charges of Arson, Terrorist Threat, Attempted Burglary, and Criminal Damage to Property.
The 19-year-old allegedly set fire to Congressman Glenn Grothman’s office in the city of Fond du Lac on the morning of January 19th. The complaint alleges that Stachowicz did so because Grothman voted ‘yes’ to require a sale of Tik Tok.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says his office is grateful for the quick actions of the police and fire departments that ensured nobody was injured in this attack and prevented more significant property damage. He adds that they will continue to aggressively prosecute anyone that attempts to intimidate government officials from performing their lawful duties.
Cash bond was set at $500,000 during the initial court appearance Wednesday and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 30th.
