Mayville Track Update

On Friday, March 20, the Mayville Track and Field team opened its season with an impressive showing at the 16-team Princeton Invitational held at Ripon College. The boys team placed second, while the girls team tied for second. Mayville athletes recorded 33 performances that surpassed their marks from the 2025 meet.

In the boys competition, Ripon took first place with 99 points, followed by Mayville with 81.5 and Columbus with 65. Weyauwega-Fremont finished fourth (63), Rhinelander fifth (42), Markesan sixth (38), Waupun seventh (37), Cedar Grove-Belgium eighth, Living Word ninth (25), Algoma tenth (23.5), Valley Christian eleventh (21), Kewaunee twelfth (19), Laconia thirteenth (14), Hustisford fourteenth (12), Princeton fifteenth (9), and Tri-County sixteenth (0).

On the girls side, Columbus won the meet with 81 points. Mayville and Living Word tied for second with 58 points, followed closely by Weyauwega-Fremont (57.5). Kewaunee placed fifth (49), Princeton sixth (45), Laconia seventh (41), Ripon eighth (40), Waupun ninth (35), Valley Christian tenth (34), Rhinelander eleventh (31), Cedar Grove-Belgium twelfth (12.5), Hustisford thirteenth (10), Algoma fourteenth (9), Markesan fifteenth (5), and Tri-County sixteenth (0).

On the boys side, Emerson Mittelstadt, Mac Livingston, and Braxton Wiese each earned top-three medals. Mittelstadt won the high jump, placed second in the high hurdles, and teamed with Wiese, Livingston, and Andy Chen to take second in the 800 relay. Livingston won the high hurdles and finished second in the pole vault, while Wiese placed second in the 60-meter dash and fourth in the long jump.

For the girls, Aubree Koput and Sidney Davis each earned three medals. Davis placed third in the 1600 meters and was part of the third-place 3200 relay team with Samara Herzog, Bella Wege, and Crystall Mueller. Koput, along with Lydia Case and Helen Vanderloop, helped the 1600 relay team to a strong finish. Individually, Koput took second in the high jump and third in the 400.

Owen Bronecki also had a strong meet, finishing fourth in the 400 and running on the fourth-place 3200 relay team with Adam Boehnlein, Reed Schmidt, and Phoenix Ellingson. Andy Chen placed fourth in the 60 and sixth in the long jump.

Lydia Case contributed with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault and sixth in the hurdles. Neva Mittelstadt had a solid high school debut, placing fifth in both the high jump and hurdles. Laila Dobberphul also impressed in her first meet, finishing fifth in the 200 and sixth in the 60.

Coach Berry was pleased with the team’s performance in the season opener.

“Our seniors showed great leadership in this large meet,” Berry said. “Many of our newcomers did not place, but their performances indicate a lot of potential. This was a great first meet and should lead to a fun track season.”

Mayville will compete next at Watertown on Saturday, March 28, at 10 a.m.
