Mayville Seeking Public Input On Its Disaster Relief Funds

(Mayville) Mayville is seeking public input on how it should disperse its disaster relief funds stemming from last month’s tornado that tore through the city. The fund will help support cleanup efforts and any other non-insurance related items.

“We have collected to date around $16,000 that should be distributed back to the community,” says Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk. “We have to create some kind of criteria on how that process [will go].”

The city is looking to define its disaster designation area, policies for reimbursement, and application process. A public hearing is scheduled for next month’s common council meeting at city hall.

Boelk estimates the damages from May’s storm is anywhere from $60-to $70-million-dollars. People can donate to the Mayville Disaster Relief Fund at P.O. Box 273 in Mayville.
